A note from Makinley

Last week was Vacation Bible School at our church. Leigh Ann helped Jana with all the tasks and coordination of the week and of course Makinley and Morgan attended their classes.

The theme of the week was Saddle Ridge Ranch and on Friday night they presented a musical. The songs were wonderful and you could tell the kids had a great week and enjoyed all the songs. Makinley and Morgan were of course the cutest and best on stage. Makinley wore a cowboy hat and boots and had a speaking part. Morgan wore boots and a pink skirt and sang with all her heart.

After the musical I was met by two excited girls. Very impromptu they asked, "MeMe, can we spend the night?" Well, why not. So we loaded up and came home. Pa had just come in and they sang their songs for him. The excitement wore off quickly and tired kicked in. We were in bed by 10:30.

I found this note on my night stand. AHHHHHHHHHH isn't that sweet.

A moment for MeMe.

Morgan & MeMe ate on the bus (trolly)

On Friday night June 11th Morgan spent the night with Pa and I.

The next day Pa went to work and Morgan and MeMe decided to have a little fun. First we went to Dixie's to have some new charms put on her charm bracelet. The night before we had discovered that the Webkins website needed to be updated. So of course we needed to purchase a new webkinz. I told Morgan we'd go to Hallmark. When we got inside she looked all around smiling and said, "Wow, this doesn't look like Walmart." We discussed Hallmark and Walmart and purchased a new Pomeranian dog.

It was time for lunch. Morgan spotted Spaghetti Warehouse and said she would like to eat there because she had never been able to eat on the bus. So our mission was to eat on the bus. They weren't crowded and I asked the hostess if the trolley was available. She looked over at Morgan, smiled and said Yes it is!

We discussed a bus and a trolly and looked at the leather hand straps that people had to hold on to while riding standing up. We looked at how different the windows were and talked all about a trolly. We shared cheese pizza. It was a lovely lunch.

When we left Morgan gave me a big hug and kiss and told me thanks that she had a great time because that was the first time she got to eat on the BUS.

You see, shopping and all that talking about a trolly but the best moment we'll remember was eating on the bus!

Air Hogs 2010

Well it's Air Hog time again in Grand Prairie.

May 2nd they had an open house at the stadium. They had free food, you could watch some new players try out and pick up this season's tickets. Makinley and Morgan said they would go with me. We had fun as usual. We played in the play ground and took a few pictures. Just messed around and ate some chips.

There were a lot of players trying out for the team. There was a catcher trying out that caught Makinley's eye. We decided to sit down and watch the try outs. It was very interesting. We sat by Lila. She said the catcher trying out was Ben Petralli. His father Geno Petralli played for the Rangers a long time ago. Interesting....

May 14th was the opening game and Corey, Leigh Ann, Makinley, Morgan and MeMe all went to the opening game. It was fun. And guess what, Ben Petralli made the team. I think he may be our new favorite player.

At the Air Hogs instead of a dot race they have a race between a chef, a hot dog and a taquito. That's Morgan's favorite part of the game.

I like Ace and the fireworks!

My first blog

Ok, this is my first attempt at blogging. For Mother's Day I received this designed and ready to go blog. It even had the first blog there for me. I was so excited that someone would take the time to think of and construct this for me. Leigh Ann is the blogger so my first thought was that she did it. But she quickly told me that it was all Corey's idea and work! It is perfect and I think she was proud of him too. He did an excellent job and I appreciated his efforts and thoughts more than he knows. Now, it's my turn to put some time in to recording the "moments".

I love the name "Moments with MeMe" too. If you don't know already, I am a real fan of "moments". I love the word and all that it means. Our lives go by so quickly. Some days fly and some drag. Some are fun and some are trying. Some are our own decision and some are thrown at us. But we rarely remember entire days but defining moments. ie..the moment that I was saved, the moment they said my name at graduation, the moment I said "I do", the moment they said, "It's a boy" (twice) and the moment I heard MeMe....Of course there are the moments you don't want to happen. The moment I answered the phone call that my grandparents had passed away, the moment Johnny called to say Paw Paw was gone and then the call that MeeMaw was gone, and so many other loved ones. But in all those moments God was by my side. God is in every moment of the day. See how wonderful the word MOMENT is!!

So I am going to try my best to record lots of moments for Makinley and Morgan to remember. This is going to be way easier than one of those "Grandma" books.

So here goes. Thanks again Corey for being so thoughtful and encouraging me to do this.

Next time I'm going to try a picture.

Out at the ballgame

This afternoon Mom dropped me off at Meme's house to go to the Ranger game with her. I was so excited about getting to go to the Ranger game. I didn't get to go at all last year, just Morgan. When we got to the stadium, we went to the dug-out where our seats are. Meme and I got to see them practice for a minute or two, then the game started. We watched for a little while then we we went upstairs to eat. We had corny dogs, cheese fries, and cake with ice cream. THEN we went back downstairs to watch more of the game. The Rangers won 4 to 3. Pretty close but they won! We also took some pictures, check them out!

Grandparent's Day at TLC (MeMe & Morgan)

Thursday, May 6, 2010
We had Grandparent's Day at school. MeMe came to TLC for Grandparent's Day. We drew MeMe's hand on a pink piece of paper. Then, we read a story and ate a donut. I had a chocolate, and MeMe had a plain donut. We did our pledge and sang "You're a Grand Ol' Flag." MeMe got a candle off of the table before she left. Later, I stamped my hand by MeMe's hand and made her this picture.
I was happy that MeMe got to come!
